My touring adventure through three States with our Club President Tony and his wife Tina has just begun!
I Arrived in Quirindi by train on Friday and was met by Tony and his beautful Armstrong Siddeley car. The car had been in the hands of "Dr Siddeley" during the week. This Dr Siddeley must be good as he also owns an Armstrong Siddeley. Saturday I settled in the back seat of the Sapphire for the start of the journey to Adelaide. The view from the back seat of this car is great even if I'm a bit bleary eyed!
First stop was at a park in Coolah and I saw this interesting waggon. These waggons were used to haul primary produce between Coolah and the Hunter River port of Morpeth (near Maitland) and bring station supplies on the return journey. Must have taken weeks as the waggons were hauled by horses or bullocks. A bit too much of a tipple at last night's red wine caused me to sleep much of the way to the historic old gold mining town of Forbes. I looked at their beautiful golf course but gave the idea of playing a round a miss with the thought of another heavy night ahead of me. After Forbes we will head for Narrandara, then Mildura and onto Murray Bridge where I've invited the Carters to take me to the Murray Bridge Gold Cup - I believe Tina likes the horse races and I need to keep on her good side! On the weekend I'll report again from Adelaide and the SA Concours..
Until my next report.....
