Goodwood Revival - Day 2

Goodwood Revival - Day 2

Unlike yesterday, today at Goodwood we had a demonstration of the worst of British weather. The morning was cold, wet and windy!!

Today we were joined in the classics' car park by a cream coloured, UK registered Hurricane and a Belgium registered Sapphire, but no sign of the owners was spotted in the crowd.

The crowd today was definately much bigger than yesterday and attendees were sporting even more period clothing. Here's a photo I took of an appropriately dressed Keith Dewhurst standing next to his AS 236.

The sporting events on the track began with a mock chase of a number of 1960 mods on their scooters by a series of period classic police cars. We next watched some impressive classic car racing from the grandstand, including much burning of rubber.

But the highlights of the day were mainly in the air, with a number of Spitfires flying past in the morning, and in the afternoon, the Battle of Britain Memorial flight of a Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane entertaining the crowd by flying in close formation over the racetrack. The sight of a Lanc and Hurricane was especially moving for me as an AS enthusiast.

In the evening we all enjoyed a typical English pub meal and a drink or two, before turning in for a well earned rest!!

It's just so exciting to be here to take part in this amazing event and to have travelling companions like Helen and Keith. There is just so much to see and do that it's difficult to get to everything that's happening - but we are trying!

Best wishes to our fellow club members,

from Sid, Helen and Keith.
